April 22 Alan Day Community Garden Earth Day Celebration! The Earth Day Parade will arrive at the Alan Day Community Garden with music, food & games for children. Come register for garden plots, the Youth Leadership Program or CSA shares. Noon-2pm. FMI 346-0708

May 20 Organic Seedling Sale 10am-2pm & Companion Planting Workshop 11am-noon. Come buy local and shop from our selection of organic seedlings ready for your garden. While you’re here, join our free workshop with Kristin Perry of McLaughlin Garden to learn about what plants do and do not like to grow near each other. Ever wonder why some plants thrive one year and not the next year? Companion planting may be part of the key to your successful garden. FMI 346-0708

July 1 Community Food Networks. Come learn about local food system models and how you can get involved. Bonnie Pooley, the 2015 NRCM Conservation Leadership People’s Choice Award Recipient and member of the Local Food Connection, will lead the discussion. 10am-noon. FMI 346-0708

July 8 Permaculture & Food Forests. Permaculture is an evolving design methodology and growing global movement to build sustainability and resiliency at the home and community scale. It is a positive response to ecosystem degradation, resource depletion, and climate instability.This workshop will explore working definitions of permaculture, discuss its history and ethics, and outline basic permaculture principles, concepts and techniques. We will finish up by looking at the Community Food Forest project from a permaculture perspective. Scott Vlaun, Executive Director of the Center for an Ecology-Based Economy and local permaculturist will lead the discussion. 9am to 11am. July 15 Free Workshop: Community Engagement.  Katey Branch, proprietress of Halls Pond Healing Arts, will share community engagement strategies based on her work with the Oxford County Wellness Collaborative and the Alan Day Community Garden. July 22 Community Roots Fair. Join us for a full day of fun celebrating Maine crafts & skills! Organized with the great support of Chris and Paula Easton, this event brings together a diverse groups of craftspeople, homesteaders, and garden enthusiasts for an intense day of learning and networking.
